The numbers of these determinants tell whether there is more cholesterol stored in the cells of an organism, broken down in the body or removed from the body. To compute for the cholesterol ratio, simply divide your total cholesterol with the LDL number and the HDL number.

The normal levels of cholesterol ratios for total cholesterol and HDL should be less than 4 for both sexes. Nonetheless, 3.5 is also considered to be an amiable number, 3.0 excellent and 2.6 fantastic.

On the other hand, the normal level of cholesterol ratio for LDL and HDL should be less than 2.5. The association of LDL and HDL is considered the best indicator of the susceptibility of a person to heart disease and stroke.
